Not cooling properly
Safe checkMake sure the temperature dial hasn't been knocked, nothing inside is blocking the vents, and there's a gap between the back and the wall for airflow. Vacuum any dust off the coils at the rear.
Water pooling underneath
Safe checkWipe up the water and check the drip tray at the back isn't full or tipped. Give it a day — if it keeps returning, the defrost drain likely needs clearing and that's our job.
Running loudly or buzzing
Safe checkCheck it's sitting level and not touching the wall or cabinets — even a slight wobble rattles. Adjust the front feet so it's steady.
Door won't seal
Safe checkClean the rubber gasket with warm soapy water and clear any trapped crumbs — a dirty or sticky seal won't close fully and lets cold escape.
Won't start
Safe checkCheck it's plugged in and the breaker hasn't tripped, then make sure the door is pushed until it clicks — most washers won't run until the door is fully latched.
Won't drain
Safe checkMake sure the drain hose isn't kinked or pushed too far down the standpipe. If your model has a filter hatch at the front bottom, place a towel down and clean it — a clog there is very common.
Shaking or walking
Safe checkRedistribute a bulky or bunched-up load, and check the machine is level on all four feet. If it was recently installed, the transit bolts may still be in.
Leaking
Safe checkDon't overfill the detergent drawer, and wipe the door seal clean of any grit or debris that stops it sealing. Persistent leaks need a proper look.
Clothes still damp
Safe checkClean the lint filter — every single load — and check the outside vent flap opens freely. A blocked vent is the number-one cause of poor drying.
No heat
Safe checkElectric dryers usually run on a double breaker — one half can trip, leaving the drum spinning but cold. Switch the breaker fully off and back on.
Takes forever
Safe checkTry smaller loads and make sure the vent hose behind the machine isn't crushed against the wall. Give the lint filter a wash if it's caked in residue.
Drum won't turn
Safe checkMake sure it isn't overloaded and nothing's jammed inside. Unplug it for a minute to reset, then try again — if it still won't spin, give us a call.
Water left in the bottom
Safe checkTwist out the filter at the base, rinse it under the tap, and check the drain hose isn't kinked behind the unit. Standing water often clears with a clean filter.
Dishes come out dirty
Safe checkSpin the spray arms by hand to check they turn freely, and clear any food stuck in their little holes with a toothpick. Don't overpack the racks.
Won't start
Safe checkPress the door firmly until the latch clicks and check the breaker is on. Many models simply won't begin until the door is properly shut.
Leaking at the door
Safe checkWipe the door gasket and clear any food debris caught in it. Using the right amount of dishwasher detergent (not washing-up liquid) also stops sudsy overflows.
Gas burner won't light
Safe checkWith the burner off, check the cap sits flat and is fully dry, and gently wipe away spills around the igniter. Let any moisture air-dry before trying again.
Electric element stays cold
Safe checkOn coil models, make sure the element is seated firmly in its socket once cool. Check the breaker too. If it still won't heat, it needs testing.
Igniter keeps clicking
Safe checkThis is usually moisture around the igniter after a spill or clean. Turn the burner off, dry the area, and give it time to fully air out.
Weak or uneven flame
Safe checkOnce cool, gently clear the little burner ports of food or grease with a soft brush — blocked ports make the flame patchy. No tools or force needed.
Won't heat at all
Safe checkCheck the breaker, and make sure a timer, delay-start, or Sabbath mode isn't switched on by accident — the clock display usually shows it. Cancel any mode and try a normal bake.
Baking unevenly
Safe checkPosition racks in the middle and avoid overcrowding, which blocks airflow. Check the door seal is intact all the way round so heat isn't escaping.
Door won't close
Safe checkMake sure a rack or tray isn't sticking out and nothing's caught in the hinges. Slide everything fully in and check the door shuts square.
Not reaching temperature
Safe checkDouble-check the setting and mode, and let it fully preheat before judging — many ovens take 12–15 minutes. If it's still off, the element or sensor may need attention.
